According to sources, the next phase will involve scanning electronic admit cards for QR codes, matching fingerprints, and facial recognition. Additionally, AI-powered live CCTV monitoring will be used to spot any unusual behavior during exams and to prevent and detect impersonation. This change comes after UPSC's verification procedures came under increased scrutiny, especially in the wake of the well-publicized Puja Khedkar case. The former IAS probationer is suspected of using various identities and falsifying personal information in order to take the Civil Services Examination more than is permitted. After finding inconsistencies in her applications, such as modifications to her name and parental details, the Commission revoked her 2022 candidacy. Even though the case is currently in court, it led to a comprehensive assessment of UPSC's test procedures.
